Award Process

PerfX Awards

PerfX provides a mechanism to recognize regional organizations that excel in performance excellence.  Just like the national award, PerfX provides a process for continued self-assessment and improvement for organizations seeking the highest levels of excellence.

Following the Baldrige criteria, self-assessments focus on seven important categories:

Leadership

Strategic Planning

Customer and Market Focus

Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management

Human Resource Focus

Process Management

Results

Teams of highly trained examiners perform in-depth reviews of applications submitted by organizations. In many cases applicants receive an on-site visit that allows for clarification of any issue.  Awards are given based on three levels of evaluation:

Performance Excellence Commitment – Level I

Recognition for enlightened organizations that have begun an initial focus on adapting and applying performance excellence principles.

Performance Excellence Progress – Level II

Intermediate level recognition for organizations reflecting commitment and varying stages of deployment of performance excellence initiatives.

Performance Excellence Leadership – Level III

The highest level of recognition for organizations demonstrating significant accomplishments in implementing performance excellence principles that have impacted the operations – and most importantly – results of the organization.

Pyramid of Excellence Award

Organizations that achieve the Quality Leadership level and exceed a minimum threshold score are eligible for this prestigious award.  Examples of organizations previously receiving this award are:

Federal Express Hub Operations

Baptist Memorial Hospital

Methodist Health Care

Youth Villages

Buckman Laboratories

University of Memphis Physical Plant

Hollywood Casino - Tunica

Each applicant receives an in-depth feedback report.  This report provides a consensus of the examiners’ conclusions of the applicant’s strengths and opportunities for improvement.   The feedback report alone is worth much more than the minimal cost of membership or  award fees.  In fact, key leaders often say that the report is the best non-biased, constructive, and cost effective management tool available to them.
